We offer various surveys and interview studies to determine, for example, the significance of project areas as fishing grounds for professional fishermen or the impact of pollution on recreational fishing. We conduct both online and mailed surveys and interview studies from planning to implementation, including professional sampling design and generalizing the results to the basic population under review.

Joint Monitoring of Fishery in the Marine Areas of Helsinki and Espooin ja Espoon merialueen kalataloudellinen yhteistarkkailu
Kala- ja vesitutkimus Oy has carried out fisheries monitoring in the marine areas of Helsinki and Espoo, coordinated by the Helsinki Region Environmental Services Authority (HSY), since 2012.
Fisheries monitoring includes, among other things, alternating years of test fishing with nets in inner and outer archipelagos, Gulf Olympia juvenile fish catches across the entire marine area every three years, and monitoring of harmful substance levels in fish in bay areas. Commercial fishing in the marine area is monitored annually and recreational fishing every three years with surveys sent to fishermen. The monitoring aims to investigate the possible impacts of the common monitoring participants (HSY’s Viikinmäki and Blominmäki wastewater treatment plants, City of Helsinki – Urban Environment, Buildings and Public Areas: Lokkiluoto and Koirasaarenluoto marine disposal areas, and City of Espoo, Urban Technical Center: Rövargrundet marine disposal area) on the fishery and fishing in the marine area. In addition, the extensive joint monitoring provides comprehensive information on the state of fishery and fishing in the marine area of the Helsinki metropolitan area and the changes occurring in them.
