
Behavioural studies can determine how fish move and act in the study area. Suitable study subjects include, for example, the effects of water construction on migratory fish passage or the functionality of fishways as migration routes. Our range of methods allows us to track fish in various environments:
- Radio telemetry is suitable for monitoring in fresh water in rivers and lakes. It allows tracking fish over long river sections and is also suitable for noisy environments, such as providing detailed behavioural information at hydroelectric plants.
- Acoustic telemetry is also suitable for brackish and marine waters. In addition, we can combine water quality and fish behaviour with combination transmitters. This enables detailed studies, for example, at river pollution points.
- PIT monitoring can be used for long-term basic monitoring and to estimate, for example, the number of migratory fish returning to spawn in the river.
